Web Design/Web Development/SEO/SEM – Starting a company?

Hello, I am in the middle of writing a business plan for a company I am starting and wanted some feedback. I have a business management degree and years of experience in PPC/SEM/SEO. I am currently enrolled in web development degree. I am going to start a company that is a total solutions comapny (Web Design/Web Development/SEO/SEM). The problem is, I wont be able to do the web design aspect until I am proficient enough (about a year) but I can do the SEO SEM and analysis. What I was thinking of doing is: establishing a clintele now by sub contracting the web portion to a 3rd party company and handeling the analysis and seo sem portion myself. Then, when I become proficient enought in the development aspect, taking that portion over as well. Any thoughts are appreciated, except for negativity.

Well, If you feel that this is a negative comment then I cannot help it. But to start a company and to write business model you need to be more accurate in what you do. Firstly, I see many spell mistakes in your post. You cannot say excuses in such things. Regarding web design, well if you have contacts (freelance web designers) you can always get in to contracts rather than leaving them and loosing money..

Also when you said you have years of experience in SEO/SEM then you should have friends who are designers or at least you can spot enough in no time.

What is a good web hosting company that has a good html page builder utility?

We are starting up a site and want to go through a hosting company and do not want to build the page through Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc. We would like to use one that is built in. I know bluehost has one but the pagebuilder is terrible. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Can someone suggest a name for my new web designing company?

My company would undertake creating new web pages, re-designing existing pages and work on development & maintenance of web pages based on client needs.

How can I find a reliable, secure web site hosting company?

I need to know how to select the best website hosting company for a new website builder. I don’t know very much about website construction. Also, I’m not sure how much room I need and don’t understand about servers, etc.

As for your question about space, both of them offer unlimited server space, unlimited bandwith, and have options for unlimited domains. So you could run multiple websites off of one hosting account.

As for maintaining a site after publishing, both Dreamhost and Hostgator have a great webpanel for maintaining and keeping stats on your site. Bought a domain and changes to Web Flash??

I really need help! I just bought a domain name for a company and for 100.00 for 5 years. Now i waited 24 hrs, then added the domain on freewebs that i amde it in. Then i go on my website, it turns to "Web Flassh" i dont get it, looks nothing like my website i was making! HELP WHAT DO I DO PLEASE! its for a company!

Sole Proprietorship or LLC for a web-design company?

I am a college student in Chicago studying web design. I want to start a web design company that would basically be a website. I dont know if I should start a Sole Proprietorship or a LLC. Which will the most beneficial for a web site for web-design?

Interesting name, where did you get it? My own name "Logan" is
old Irish for "from the Hollow". LLC means Partners doesn’t it?
For most small businesses you don’t want partners. You do want
to make money. The skills used in building web-sites may serve
you in many ways. From what I have seen, most people who
make money from the web are selling something. From Old Cars
to Empty Promises. How much does it cost to make a promise.
Often booklets or pictures or music disks can be peddled for a
good profit.

A business that needs several partners usually is much larger.
Some partners have skills that others don’t, others have the
money to start, someone may have a place to work from, or
maybe the proper tools (welding shop?)

The big business killer is money! A dollar spent from out
of your wallet is not the same as a dollar spent from a credit
card. Both are different from the dollar you borrow on your
house (or other asset). A successful business usually starts
small, and builds into itself. If you dump a bunch of money
into a business, then that is spent, and you lose the ability
of adapting to different conditions. If the money is borrowed
you will find that the lender wants HIS whether you have an
income or not. Sometimes it is wise to borrow, but usually
it is not. As it is written, "The borrower becomes the slave
of the lender."

A suggestion for you. Talk to your teachers, friends, and
others who have been in the business. If you can work for
someone else for a while who is doing it, you may learn
much. That may save you making costly mistakes. As it
is written, "There is wisdom in many advisers." Buy
your professor lunch, do him some favors, a small gift.
Same for friends and associates,

You need your Start-Up money—Two years running money—
and an income to live on. If you borrow any of it, you need
enough income to pay the payments without any of it coming
from the business.
